It's all about the rag wreaths
We’re excited to share our favourite tips, ideas and inspirational crafting photos with you. No matter what you want to know about our craft kits you can find it here.
The purpose of our kits is to give you a taster of a particular craft, and if you like it you can delve further just like when we held workshops for you to come and learn something new. However with a kit we can't always make things as clear like we did in person so here is where we can go in to more detail and give you some ideas and inspiration to get even more creative with our kits.
One question often asked with regards to our rag wreaths ang garland kits is "how do I cut the fabric in to strips?" We do explain on the instructions but it is easier to see it done so we have put a video right here on the website so you can see how its done
It's real easy just follow our video further down the page
You can do so much more with the rag wreaths and garlands
Why not decorate the wooden heart or star that comes in the kits, you can paint and embellish them with gems, pearls and ribbons.
You can now add a decoration pack to your cart when ordering. Just choose a colour that matches or contrasts with the colour of your kit and you will have everything you need to complete the task.
You can also decoupage them with paper or fabric.
Something else people worry about when picking their wreath or garland is the pattern on the fabric. The pattern does not really show, the most important thing is the colour combinations.
Take a look at the gallery of photos below to see what you can do.
Adding more decoration to your wreath can give it the wow factor.
Adding a set of battery operated lights can look stunning on any wreath not just the Christmas ones.
You can add these by either winding and weaving them through but we find it easier to sew on once you have made up your wreath. Sew a loop around the wire being careful not to go through the wire.
If adding to a garland, twist the twine and lights together and tie the fabric onto them.
Add artificial flowers, you can put a small bunch together or just add the individual flower heads. Just keep playing around with them until you are happy with the look.
Remember to take a photo so you can see exactly how they looked and then either sew them on or if you have a hot glue gun you can use that to stick on your decorations.
You can get really creative when doing your Christmas wreaths and garlands by adding lots of different decorations and lights, these can be easily changed each year if you sew them on.
When sewing on the baubles always snip off the hanging thread and sew through the little hole in the cap of the bauble as this will then sit better on the wreaths.
The wreaths can be created for any occasion, theme or décor. We have lots of different kits available with more always being added.
If you would like a bespoke wreath or garland kit please get in touch and we will do our best to help.
If your wreath is looking flat, tired and dusty, take it down and outside and give it a good shake but not too vigorously if heavily decorated as you may dislodged them.
Alternatively you can give it a quick blast with the hair dryer.
If you wreath is undecorated you can give it a spray of air freshener to add a nice scent to the room.
