Learn to crochet

We can teach you how to crochet. If you have tried and failed why not book in and let us help you, guiding you through the basic stitches needed to get you on your crochet journey. The classes are kept to only four students per session. This is for complete beginners and can also be useful as a refresher course.
A one to one session can also be arranged.
Learn how to do a corner to corner pattern

This is a lovely easy first blanket pattern to do when you have just learnt the basic stitches.
There is not the long starting chain that everyone dreads. It's an ideal first blanket project and looks lovely whether as a baby blanket or a large snuggly throw. It grows quite quickly too. During this workshop you will learn how to create the pattern and leave the workshop with the beginnings of a blanket. All the materials are supplied for this project.
Sweet double ripple crochet pattern

Once you have a little more confidence in your crochet then why not take the plunge and try the sweet double ripple. This involves a little more concentration and doesn't leave much room for error.
If you love to make blankets then this is definitely one to try.
You leave the workshop with a project to finish at home. All materials are supplied to make your blanket.
Learn to make a granny square blanket

The granny square is so versatile and currently very popular for making clothes and bags as well as a wonderful blanket.
During this workshop you will learn how to create a simple granny square blanket.
One of the most important aspects of the granny square is getting your corners correct.
You will be making a large granny square blanket with the materials to continue this project at home. Once you have mastered the square you can make it any size you wish and join them together to make a wonderful array of items.
Learn how to join granny squares

There are so many different ways you can join granny squares. During this workshop I will show you 2 ways in which you can crochet and join your squares together, giving you a much neater look and finish than you would achieve by sewing them together.
Crochet a bag

How about joining us to make a gorgeous crochet bag
There are several different bags you can come and make on an all day workshop. They are scheduled throughout the year or you can contact us to organise a date.
Crochet course - New for 2026!

If you are looking for something to keep you going through the year then we have our new year long crochet course.
You will be joining us in the workshop once every month to learn a new pattern which you have to continue making at home and then in month 11 you will learn how to join them and in month 12 you will learn a border pattern to add the final flourish to your year long project, finishing just in time for Christmas.
To be able to join in you will need to have your basic crochet stills. So if you have joined me for the learn to crochet this will be a great learning project for you to do.
A new class will be starting on 8th July 2026 and again in January 2027
Children's crochet classes

We run a selection of parent & child learn crochet together classes, a great way to build that quality time together learning something new.
There are currently two different sessions
1) INTRO where you will both be making a small basket on a wooden base. This gives you an easy introduction to crochet and you go home with a finished project.
2) Learn to crochet on this class you will learn the basic stitches and working on a chain which is more difficult than the intro. This will enable you to start your own project like a scarf on your own at home.
Both these sessions are for children aged 8 to 15 years of age.
Your Tutor!

Yes it's me Sharon @ Wigglywoo's
I don't always look like this as many who have attended the workshops will testify, it's usually a messy topknot and a big slouchy crochet jumper I have made.
I have been crocheting since a child when my nana first taught me to crochet. I picked it up again about 16 years ago and have learnt so much. I don't always work from a pattern, I think what I would like to make and have a rough idea of how I want it to look and away I go. It doesn't always go to plan but often it will be good enough and can still be worn or used, if not its undone and try again, never give up!
I have been teaching crochet since I opened Wigglywoo's and I have had so much joy and pleasure sharing my love of crochet with so many and nothing gives me a better feeling than when someone sends me a photo of their creations after learning to crochet with me in the workshop.
Here are some of the reviews that have been left by previous students

"I had a lovely session learning to crochet with Sharon. The goody bag and products were lovely and there was an amazing selection of wool to choose from.
Sharon was an excellent teacher, very kind and patient. She explained everything very well and repeated until I was feeling more confident. I would definitely recommend the workshops and I hope to go back and learn more techniques. Oh and the homemade cake was a lovely unexpected bonus! Thank you Sharon" (M.Berrimen)
"Lovely morning learning to crochet . Very clear instructions, very good teacher
Thank you Sharon" (N.Cole)
"I had a great time at my Learn to Crochet class ☺️ Sharon was a brilliant teacher with great patience whilst I got to grips with starting. Once I’m a bit more practiced I will definitely be attending for other classes to help with other elements" (B.Whymark)
